There would be no vacation for the party. The morning after they saved Toril by dooming Xaryxis, and claiming the Xaryxian throne for themselves, the party would divide up the tasks in front of them.
As part of the plan to get off-world, the party decided they would set up a triumvirate of executive power to maintain order in their time away. Among the appointees was Kiboko, who would be tasked with overseeing all things science for the empire. Among his work would be the terraforming of the citadel’s largely-untouched underside. This would be necessary so that the world could be self-sufficient when its primary supply world in Xaryxispace would ultimately die along with its star.
Inrim, Kevin, and Zeirm would make their way to the Great Orrery to inform Kiboko of his new assignment. While there, Kevin would decide to stay with Kiboko to help plan the terraforming and offer magical advice to speed up its improvement.
From there, Inrim and Zeirm would head to the imperial barracks to look for rumors about Xeleth’s location. Instead, they would find a Xedalli loyalist and potential candidate for the role of Lord General. The previous Lord General died in the destruction of the navy’s flagship at the hands of Krux’ sacrifice. They found no rumors of Xeleth’s location, but they did find out that rumors were spreading that it was the real Xedalli that died, and that the person sitting on the throne was an imposter.
Meanwhile, Xerek would walk the streets in search of any information to be found out among the population. While headed to the trade quarter, he noticed an encoded message on a wall. It read “the empire must fall.” Continuing on to the trade quarter, he found a similar message reading “down with the emperor.” Matching the code, he added a comment of his own: “The emperor is dead.”
He visited some shops, including Very Good Equipment, a no-frills armor shop run by a warforged. After awkwardly ascertaining that the owner was an owner and nothing more, he left the shop. On his way out, he noticed that a new encoded tag had been added to the wall: “Meet behind the Majestic Moth at 10:42pm.” With this, he decided to head to the barracks to inform others.
Elsewhere, Idakath and Cahya headed to the Temple of Light to speak with High Priest Andavier about the Xaryxians’ history. They hoped to find information about what the path of their people was before they went astray, as the Zodar put it. They got their history lesson. Andavier’s best guess at where the people had gone wrong was in being dissatisfied with the gifts that Xaryxis gave their people who instead found ways to demand more and more of the star’s power until they ultimately needed to steal the energy of other worlds to fuel their own.
With new things to think about, Idakath and Cahya headed back to the palace. Along the way, they crossed paths with Xerek who informed them of the mysterious meeting invite. They decided to discuss it at a late lunch. Xerek would make his way to the barracks and inform the others of this meeting and their summons to lunch. (Kevin would find out about it thanks to his messenger blue jay.)
Over lunch, they would discuss their findings and agree to all go as backup for Xerek’s meeting.
