As the crew pulled out of the asteroid field, they were immediately closed in on by a group of Githyanki pirates. The pirates had their eyes on the loot from the wreckage the party just claimed. A battle ensued inevitably ensued.
Nagivating the oddity of gravity in space along the way, the party eventually overcame the pirates, killing them or leaving them to suffocate in space. Forgetting that they were in a simulation, Idakath and Inrim decided to claim the pirates’ Squid Ship. The party debated keeping the second ship, but Idakath and Inrim would not be dissuaded.
Both ships still functional, though damaged from combat, they set high speed for home. Before they got there, they were pulled back into cruising speed by coming upon the other group of academy cadets. Their ship heavily damaged with odd electricity overwhelming them.
The party took the other cadets upon the squid ship. Finally, they tried once more to set course for home. They were stopped short and yanked from the simulation to a mess of damage in the simulation deck. The party, the other cadets, and the training officers were all injured due to sabotage of the simulation decks.
Xerek found a foreign object in the simulation deck. Offering it to Tarto and Saerthe, the officers recognized a sigil on the damaging object as belong to Vocath. They spoke of mercanes and grudges oward Mirt. They didn’t offer more information, nor did the party push for it.
The officers took a moment to appreciate the success of the party in the simulation, even with unexpected outcomes. Each party member was awarded a voucher for 100gp that could be cashed out at the store or administrative office. The party went back to quarters to tend their wounds.
A couple days later, the party was woken suddenly by Boatswain Tarto, informing them that they were to make haste for a real mission. She informed them that an adamantine meteor struck the Spire on H’Catha, and that they would be retrieving it.
This would mean claiming and repurposing an empty Tyrant vessel above Toril. Sending the party along with Officer Ryeback and the cadets from the previous simulation, they boarded the carved-stone vessel, shaped in the form of a beholder.
While working to install a spelljammer helm in the command deck, the party spung a trap. The Tyrant entered a rapid spin. Quick thinking led to them taking little injury thanks to Idakath’s casting of feather fall on the party. Working together, the party was able to successfully stop the rapid spinning of the ship.
Getting the helm into place, Inrim and Xerek noticed scraping sounds from the hollow deck. They entered stealthily to find a trio of clockwork horrors salvaging parts from dead autognomes to build a forth clockwork horror. Xerek alerted the rest of the party of the monsters. Inrim flew to the cargo deck to retrieve reinforcements by way of Ryeback and the other cadets.
At about that time, the horrors noticed the light coming through the hatch, alerting them to new life on the ship. They made a move for the door. Kiboko quickly greased the area around the hatch, hoping to enable the party to ambush the horrors when they climbed through the hatch.
Roll for initiative!
